Jimmy is in a temporary coma after he and his family are in a car accident that kills his parents and cripples his Grandma. Once he recovers, he and his Grandma decide to move from the cold of Lake Tahoe down to the warm weather of Culver City in Southern California. It's a financial struggle for them until something happens to change their lives. A sleazy bookie named "Ham" has his office downstairs below their apartment. When "Ham" is murdered for a bad debt, an unappointed Jimmy steps in and takes over the business. Things are going well until the Mob begins to come after him.
