A young woman from a deprived neighborhood, Sofia Estévez, is gripped by a frenzied ambition and as a means to satisfy this one she takes as a target a very wealthy man, Camilo Rivera, who has happened to build his fortune on illegal businesses. The presence of this man becomes an obstacle to Daniel Aracena, who his whole life has been in love with Sofia, which dismisses him constantly given that this guy is just as poor as her and he cannot offer her any of the material things she needs. Sofia's unrestrainable ambition leads her to have a totally wrong perception about the way that Camilo genuinely is beyond his public facade. This situation eventually detours Sofia's life and pushes her helplessly downhill; leaving also deep scars in Daniel's soul that he will try to mend by finding a new relationship who helps him to forget those sad and bitter memories and rise back like a phoenix from the ashes.
