After completing his military service, Angel returns to his native village. Angel and beautiful Rada are in love. Gancho, the deformed son of a wealthy man, is seized by jealousy. He pours poison into the jug of Angel but his younger brother stumbles and breaks the jug. Rada`s mother wants to give her daughter to Angel but her father discusses the future engagement with Gancho. Their new scheme is put into effect - they set Angel`s house in fire. Angel carries his brother out of the burning building with difficulty. After that, he starts building a new house. Harvest time. Rada starts for the spring. Gancho attacks her. Gancho tries to stab his rival with a knife but Angel kills him in self-defense. On false evidence, the young man is thrown into goal. Rada goes to the nunnery. Time passes. Angel has served his sentence. On the way home, he sees a cart being pulled by a team of frightened horses. The young man saves his enemy - the rich father of Gancho.
