Young lady Ellen lives with mother and stepfather in secluded dwelling. At her 21st birthday she flees from home. At the train she meets millionaire Rene who is enchanted by her delightful voice. Soon they part and later meet again. However, when Ellen spots Rene giving flowers to another woman, she leaves him again. In the meantime, violinist Pavel Sedlon falls in love with Ellen and at the appropriate moment he saves her from an awkward situation. Although she doesn't love him, she promises to marry him. Not only Rene loose Ellen, he also go bankrupt. Thus his last hope is to finish the libretto for an operetta called "The Delirious Heart" which is set to the music by Pavel Sedlon.
