The story explores the idea of soul-searching and shows the power of true redemption. This film has elements of surrealism, with a shocking and thrilling storyline. The weight of guilt can eat away at an individual, and this is just what happens to Peter Ackerman. The title of this film pays homage to Dostoevsky`s `Crime & Punishment` and some of the plot line follows with that classic novel.
