Thakur Dayal Singh is a wealthy man and lives a very comfortable life with his wife, and daughter, Anita. He would like Anita to get married to his friend`s son, but Anita refuses to agree to an arranged marriage, and would like to select her groom on her own. When Thakur disagrees, Anita runs away from home, and meets with a young man named Pritam Singh. After a series of misunderstandings, both are attracted to each other and fall in love. Anxious about his daughter`s whereabouts, Thakur sends his men, and even offers to pay a reward for the safe return of his daughter. Anita is separated from Pritam, and taken back to her home, and marriage to a man she has never known before.
