Meet census worker Nick Prince. Nick wants nothing more than to go drown his sorrows each evening at the Boar's Head Tavern and pine for his lost college love. But before he can do that, his job with the U.S. Census Bureau requires him to face down reluctant respondents in the backwoods of the Cascades, who repel him with everything from pit bulls to shotguns. Nick spends his days simply trying to stay one step ahead of his acerbic, chain-smoking shrew of a supervisor, ANGIE, by meeting his daily quota of completed census interviews. When his assignment takes him to an undiscovered polygamist compound way off the grid in a remote Oregon forest, he has little hope of persuading the prickly patriarch of the clan to cooperate. But a middle of the night phone message from REBEKKAH, one of the clan's four wives, invites him back. Nick is caught off guard when a rebellious Rebekkah and two kids jump into his Jeep and demand to be whisked to freedom.
