While the Cinema One Originals festival is about to cast a light on the independent film scene in The Philippines the country's big commercial film festival is just around the corner as well. The biggest films in The Philippines tend to premiere as part of the Metro Manila Film Festival and one that will be appearing there in the upcoming edition is Tikoy Aguiluz's Manila Kingpin, a slick looking gangster picture based on the life of real life crime lord Asiong Salonga. This first teaser is very brief but it has a good deal of potential, Aguiluz looking back to classic noir and gangster films for the look and feel of the piece.
