Originally studying painting at Musashino Art University Tsuki Inoue also began writing for the school’s drama troupe. In its short powerhouse 21-minute running time Inoue, as Midnight Eye co-founder Tom Mes describes, “…provides further evidence that women directors hold the key to the future of Japanese film.” The judges at the 2008 Yubari International Fantastic Film Festival felt the same way and awarded the film the festivals Grand Prix Award.
