Elzbieta Czyzewska creates an unforgettable Noemi, a young Jewish woman torn apart by her emotions. On the eve of the outbreak of World War II, Noemi awaits her love, the young Polish artist Kamil, and reminisces about their tumultuous romance. The film is a study of love, from the hopeful beginning, to the ecstasy, and later jealous longing that overcomes Noemi. Simultaneous to Noemi's breaking point, the world around her is overturn by chaos in the outbreak of the war. Adapted from the successful story by Adolf Rudnicki, written in 1937. Unloved, set shortly before the outbreak of WW2, tells the story of a young Jewish woman's love affair whose ending coincides with the ominous atmosphere of the period, including its anti-Semitism. Czyzewska's Naomi, as the film's few reviewers raved (it was allowed a very limited run), was powerful and heartbreaking.
