Dr. Watson became famous. Crowds of enthusiastic readers want to see firsthand the characters of his fascinating stories. The delight of the public is not shared by either Holmes or Mrs. Hudson. Watson faces eviction from the apartment. The scandal is interrupted by a certain red-haired gentleman, who, having learned about Holmes's amazing abilities, decided to ask for help. On the same day, a remarkable incident occurs at the national bank. Someone named Ebenezer Buckley decided to exchange a whole suitcase of bills for pure gold. When Buckley left the bank, the police suddenly appeared and killed the fraudster. Holmes makes the assumption that the case of the red-haired gentleman and the death of Mr. Buckley are only part of a cunning plan.
