A police station in the mountains :they learn a convict has just escaped from a jail ,200 miles away from their hole.But this is precisely the place where Fred ,the fugitive ,(innocent victim of a blind justice?) takes refuge .His ex-wife,Simone, who married a physician, reluctantly welcomes him in her house where her husband mistakes him for her brother.Simone urges her former husband not to leave the place,but he intends to avenge himself :someone gave him away to the police five years ago.And a shady storekeeper seems to know too much about him.
